  • Single cut on both edges
  • Used in general work and filing flat surfaces
  • Does not produce smooth surface
  • A large amount of metal can be removed

Square Files
  • Double cut on all sides
  • Used for enlarging of holes
  • Used for filing of slats and key

Tri Angular Files
Its section is triangular
Faces are double cut
Edges are single cut
Each side is on 60 degree
Used for filing angles, shoulders, corners.
Also used for sharpening wood working saws

Round Files
Usually double cut
Used for enlarging holes, slots, concave.

Half round files
It has one flat side and the other round side

Bending of metals

Ball Peen Hammer
Its hammer peen is like a ball

Cross Peen Hammer
Used for hammering into shoulders
Hammering in curves
Bending of metals
Stretching of metals

Vernier Calliper
Vernier Calliper is used to measure length on job. We can also use steel rule to measure required dimensions.

Tri-Square
It consists of steel blade fixed at right angle to the edge of coast iron stock.
It is used for checking of right angles, the squareness and the surface and also draws line at right angle.

Hand Hexa or Hack Saw

 Center Punch
A punch is primarily a marking tool used in bench work and known as center punch. This punch is used for marking Centre for drilling of holes,

Scriber

It is made of steel and one end is sharp pointed and other end is similar but bent. This tool is used for scribing line on work piece.

PERSONAL ASSESMENT AT LAB
MAKE A WORKPIECE ACCORDING TO SUPPOSED DIMENSIONS,
NOTE: for your own ease Take all dimensions in mm.

Procedure according to supposed dimensions by author:
Length of given job is more than 75 mm. Reduce it 75mm by using file.
Check 90 degree angle by using trisquare.
Rub chalk on JOB to make it white.
Measure required dimensions by using steel rule or vernier.
  Make line by scriber.
Use centre punch & Hammer to mark centre of holes to be drilled.
Also mark points on line separating V shaped extra portion as shown in figure.
Use Drill Machine to drill holes on job.
